Data = Creative…Say Whaaaaa?

The band Radiohead recently released the video for a song called “House of Cards.” While you may not be a fan of the music, if you work at Rapp then (hopefully) you’re a fan of data…specifically data used to inspire/drive creative, but also data used in creative ways. But have you ever thought about using data, to well, create Creative?

No cameras or lights were used. Instead two technologies were used to capture 3D images: Geometric Informatics and Velodyne LIDAR. Geometric Informatics scanning systems produce structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity, while a Velodyne Lidar system that uses multiple lasers is used to capture large environments such as landscapes. In this video, 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute produced all the exterior scenes.

  3. A link to Google’s replication of the data, that allows you to play around with the “lasers,” which in essence is really allowing you to change the values of the data, thereby changing the visual

Beautiful… surreal and delicate, just how I imagine ghosts to exist. Think this technology will make for some great ads - just have to find the right brief now.

Data can be viewed as the art of listening. If you listen to your environments you can develop the data necessary to form the strategy required to develop a go-to-market plan to maximize or minimize the desired results expected or required.
